Job Description:

Casual Visitor Information Coordinator

The Economic, Tourism and Cultural Development department is seeking an individual with an outgoing personality to provide visitor information services to guests at the City Hall Visitor Information Centre. This position will report directly to the Event Management & Tourism Officer.

Some responsibilities may include:

  • Respond to in-person, telephone, and e-mail inquiries as they relate to visitor information services.
  • Conduct historical tours of Charlottetown City Hall.
  • Conduct historic/garden walking tours of downtown Charlottetown.
  • Maintain adequate stock of visitor information literature both in the City Hall Visitor Information Centre and in reserve.
  • On an as-needed basis, assist with preparing for and/or executing civic events and activities such as Capital City Canada Day, Natal Day Weekend Celebrations, Make Our Hometown Beautiful, Summer Socials, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent and/or previous work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and internet applications.
  • Ability to conduct work outdoors, particularly during warmer weather.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Experience in customer service-related positions is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with good self-motivation.
  • Good team player.
  • Great organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate events as required.
  • Communicates effectively; verbally and written in English and French.
  • Must adhere to all City policies including maintaining a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

WORK STATUS: CASUAL June 2026, to September 2026.

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours/week. Must be willing to work flexible schedule (Evenings and Weekends)

SALARY: $17.50 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
