Maintenance Helper

Job Description:

PURPOSE:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Hotel Maintenance Helper to assist in the upkeep of our hotel facilities, including routine maintenance, repairs, and ensuring the proper functioning of pools and hot tubs. This role is crucial to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.

REPORTS TO:

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager, Blackbush.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repairs.
• Perform routine inspections of hotel facilities and address maintenance issues.
• Help maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Ensure common areas, hallways, and guest spaces are in good condition.
• Ensuring bonfires are lit and maintained for guests as needed
• Grounds maintenance but not limited to cutting grass, trimming, and other grounds maintenance.
• Regularly test and balance pool and hot tub water chemistry.
• Clean and sanitize pools, hot tubs, and surrounding areas.
• Monitor and maintain proper function of pool pumps, heaters, and filtration systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
• Follow hotel safety procedures and report hazards or issues promptly.
• Ensure maintenance tools and supplies are properly stored and used safely.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
• Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to address hotel upkeep needs.
• Assist with seasonal tasks, such as snow removal or landscaping.
• Provide support for special projects and renovations as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1 – 2 years Previous experience in hotel maintenance, general repair work, or pool maintenance is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry is a plus.
• Pool Operator Certification (CPO) is an asset but not required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various conditions, and stand for long periods.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
