Service Plumber (Red Seal Journeyperson)
Position Summary
The Service Plumber is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing plumbing and heating systems in residential and commercial settings. This position requires a licensed Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber who can work independently, provide exceptional customer service, and consistently deliver high-quality workmanship.
As the face of Bevan Bros. Limited on service calls, the Service Plumber is expected to maintain a professional appearance, communicate effectively with customers, and uphold the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in a timely manner.
- Diagnose plumbing and heating system issues and determine the most effective repair solutions.
- Repair, replace, and install water supply systems, drainage systems, plumbing fixtures, pumps, valves, water heaters, boilers, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot domestic water systems, domestic hot water systems, hydronic heating systems, and other plumbing-related equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on plumbing and heating systems.
- Locate and repair water leaks and drainage issues.
- Complete drain cleaning and blockage removal.
- Test all completed work to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
- Clearly explain repairs, recommendations, and maintenance options to customers.
- Maintain accurate work orders, service reports, labour hours, and material usage.
- Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.
- Participate in the on-call rotation.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification (required).
- Valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair plumbing and heating systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional customer service skills.
- Ability to use mobile devices and complete electronic work orders.
Preferred Assets
- Experience with commercial plumbing systems.
- Experience servicing boilers and hydronic heating systems.
- Gas Fitter licence.
- Backflow Prevention Certification.
- Cross-training in HVAC systems.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
- Overtime and emergency service work may be required.
- Travel to customer locations throughout Prince Edward Island.
- Company vehicle provided.
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a competitive compensation package that includes:
- Hourly Wage: $37.92 per hour
- Employer-Paid Health Plan: Comprehensive health benefits fully paid by Bevan Bros.
- Employer-Paid Pension: $6.00 per hour contributed by Bevan Bros. to the employee pension plan.
- Vacation Pay: 9% vacation pay, equivalent to $3.41 per hour.
