Job Summary
The Intake and Resource Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) at the Abegweit First Nation Miโkmaq Wellness Centre. Working under the direction of the Manager of Mental Wellness and Addictions, this position supports culturally grounded, community-based addictions programming while assisting community members in accessing services and systems of care.
The Intake and Resource Coordinator plays a key role in client intake, needs assessment, service coordination, community engagement, and supporting program delivery to ensure individuals and families receive responsive and culturally safe supports related to addictions, mental wellness, treatment, aftercare, housing, and other social determinants of health.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operations and service delivery of the SUAP initiative in alignment with community needs and program objectives.
- Coordinate client intake processes, referrals, and access to addictions, mental health, housing, and social support services.
- Assist community members in navigating detox, treatment, aftercare, harm reduction, and other wellness-related services.
- Provide individualized support and advocacy to clients accessing internal and external programs and resources.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments and external service providers to strengthen continuity of care.
- Assist with program coordination activities, including scheduling, client follow-up, and resource connection.
- Support culturally grounded programming that reflects Miโkmaq values, traditions, and community priorities.
- Participate in community outreach, engagement activities, and wellness initiatives as required.
- Assist with monitoring client participation and maintaining accurate and confidential documentation.
- Support program planning, implementation, and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Participate in supporting the Abegweit First Nation Transition Center Concept Model.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a Health, Social Services, Addictions, or Educational field.
- Experience working in addictions, mental health, social services, or community-based programming.
- Understanding of substance use, harm reduction, and trauma-informed approaches to care.
- Knowledge of Miโkmaq and/or Indigenous cultural contexts and the impacts of colonization.
- Experience supporting client intake, resource coordination, and system navigation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Valid driverโs license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Working Conditions
