Wage: ($18/hour base) + commission

Additional: Health benefits are available after the 90-day probationary period and are split cost wise 50/50 with the employer.

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, results-driven Sales Representative & Account Manager to join our fast-paced produce trading team. In this role, you will manage end-to-end sales transactions, cultivate relationships with buyers and growers, negotiate pricing in a dynamic market, and coordinate freight logistics to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development: Prospect, negotiate, and secure daily and contract produce sales with retail, wholesale, and food service accounts across Canada and the US.
  • Grower & Buyer Relationship Management: Build strong, trust-based relationships with regional potato growers and national produce buyers to keep market information flowing.
  • Produce Freight Brokerage: Coordinate truckload logistics, freight dispatch, and temperature-controlled transport for orders, ensuring seamless delivery from farm to buyer.
  • Market Analysis & Pricing: Monitor daily commodity trends, supply availability, weather impacts, and hundredweight (CWT) market pricing to negotiate competitive buys and sells.
  • Account Management & Logistics Tracking: Maintain accurate order entries, track shipments in transit, manage credit terms, and resolve quality, delivery, or inspection claims efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in produce sales, agricultural commodity trading, freight brokerage, or food service distribution preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the potato industry, and regional agricultural standards is a distinct advantage.
  • Sales & Negotiation Drive: Self-motivated closer with proven cold-calling, negotiation, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Logistics Acumen: Understanding of freight rates, dispatch operations, reefer transport, and cross-border shipping procedures.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly over the phone.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with spreadsheet tools, QuickBooks Online, and freight and produce databases.
