Junior Accountant (Temporary)

Position Overview:
We are hiring a Junior Accountant to support our Finance team at ADL Water St. on a temporary, full-time basis for a 15-month term. This role reports directly to the Corporate Controller and supports a wide range of accounting activities, including journal entries, invoice coding, reconciliations, working papers, and internal/external reporting. The position helps ensure financial records are accurate, organized, and submitted on time, while supporting recurring tasks, month-end responsibilities, and process improvements across different parts of the business.
This role offers exposure to core accounting processes within a manufacturing environment and the opportunity to grow over time based on performance and business needs.
Location: ADL Water St., 79 Water St., Summerside, PE
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely posting of journal entries including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and adjustments to support month-end and year-end processes.
- Prepare month end working papers, reconciliations, and analysis on various account balances.
- Summarize and record daily bank & Visa transactions, ensuring amounts have supporting documentation.
- Provide accounting, reporting, and analytical support related to milk intake and usage, including assisting with component tracking, data entry, reconciliations, and other business-related requirements as needed.
- Prepare and code vendor invoices for Accounts Payable processing.
- Conduct monthly filings of third-party compliance reports.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 1–3 years of related accounting experience preferred; new graduates with relevant coursework or co-op experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, well-organized work.
- Comfortable working with financial data, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical approach to resolving issues.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting systems is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to take ownership of work, act on feedback, show initiative, and continuously improve.
