About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Irrigation Technician to join our team in Prince Edward Island. This hands-on role involves building Zimmatic center pivot irrigation systems, as well as providing service, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for existing irrigation equipment. While prior irrigation experience is an asset, we will provide training and support to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install Zimmatic irrigation center pivots and related equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on irrigation systems.
  • Operate heavy equipment as required for installation and service work.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Safely use tools and equipment common to construction and agricultural settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
  • Travel occasionally (including overnight stays) for projects across the region.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Valid driver’s license with reliable access to a personal vehicle (mandatory).
  • Experience in construction, agricultural equipment, or related trade.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Electrical proficiency is an asset.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, excavator) preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform heavy lifting.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Irrigation experience is an asset, but training will be provided.
  • Strong professionalism in dress, communication, and customer interaction (both on-site and over the phone).

Compensation & Benefits

  • $22–26 per hour, based on experience.
  • Overtime pay at 1.5x regular rate for hours worked over 48 per week.
  • Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle.
  • Health and dental benefits.
  • RRSP program with company matching.
  • On-the-job training and mentorship.
  • Opportunities for career growth and development.

This is a field-based role involving outdoor work in agricultural settings. The position requires physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and working with tools and heavy equipment.

Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, there will be times when extended hours are required during center pivot construction or urgent service repairs. Farmers often provide additional labour and work long days during installations, and our team is expected to match their commitment to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
