Veterinary Assistant

Job Description:

Position Details

• Full-time permanent veterinary assistant
• Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience
• Full-time schedule, including some Saturday mornings

Responsibilities

• Assis veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care
• Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
• Clean, disinfect and maintain hospital equipment and facilities
• Feed, walk and monitor hospitalized patients
• Assist with laboratory samples and basic in-house testing
• Stock supplies and maintain inventory
• Answer phone calls, fill prescriptions, make appointments and answer emails
• provide exceptional care and customer service to clients and their pets

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Dependable, punctual and a team player
• Able to lift up to 50lbs and spend extended periods standing and walking
