Meet PEI is the destination management organization responsible for attracting corporate business events, incentive groups, sport meetings, and national/international conferences and government groups to Prince Edward Island. A member-based organization, Meet PEI partners with the public and private sector across the Island to market PEI as a premier destination for meetings and conventions, connecting planners with local industry partners through RFPs and bid support.

Position Overview
Meet PEI is seeking a self-motivated, based in PEI as Business Development Manager with sales experience in the hospitality industry to drive business development for PEI’s meetings, conventions, and incentive (MICE) sector. This role focuses on prospecting new corporate clients, building relationships with meeting planners across Canada, and connecting future conferences with PEI industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development and lead generation with targeted meeting planners across Canada, locally, regionally and nationally
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline, developing tailored proposals and meeting solutions from small events to large city-wide conferences
  • Connect incoming conferences with PEI partners and act as a destination expert to support their planning
  • Represent PEI and its partners at tradeshows and industry events, both on and off Island
  • Track sales performance and manage client relationships through the organization’s CRM
  • Grow PEI’s presence as a year-round MICE destination, with emphasis on shoulder-season business
  • Build relationships with local ambassadors, members, government partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Share market trends and client needs with members to support organizational growth

Key Competencies

  • Strong communicator with a track record of building relationships, generating demand, and closing business in a dynamic sales environment
  • Deep knowledge of MICE ((Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and tourism industry trends, with the ability to develop client-focused solutions
  • Collaborative team player who contributes to shared goals while managing an independent book of business
  • Entrepreneurial approach to identifying and delivering value for partners and clients
  • Persuasive relationship-builder who represents the organization as a trusted brand ambassador

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, or MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), with an existing network of planners/industry contacts in Canada
  • 3–5 years of B2B sales or business development experience, including lead generation, prospecting, and CRM-based pipeline management
  • Post-secondary education in a tourism-related field an asset
  • Strong market knowledge of the meetings and conventions sector
  • Proven ability to meet targets and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing business development budgets
  • Bilingual (French) a strong asset
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; ability to travel domestically as needed.
