About the Role

GIP Island Construction Ltd. is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Concrete Slipform Foreman to lead road construction projects in Charlottetown and surrounding areas. In this role, you won’t just supervise from the sidelinesโ€”you will actively lead by example, coordinate daily site operations, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This position is seasonal during the construction season, generally beginning in April and ending in December, weather permitting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise & Coordinate: Oversee daily crew activities, delegate tasks, and coordinate machinery/materials to keep roadway and highway projects on schedule.
  • Hands-on Execution: Actively participate in forming and pouring concrete curbs using both hand-forming techniques and slipform machinery.
  • Quality & Progress Tracking: Monitor daily progress, identify and resolve on-site issues, and report progress to project management.
  • Crew Mentorship: Train, guide, and mentor crew members to improve workmanship, efficiency, and career growth.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforce all company and provincial safety regulations, ensuring a proactive “safety-first” culture on-site.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Industry Experience: Proven track record supervising and managing roadway/highway concrete construction crews.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with both hand-forming and machine/slipform concrete curb placement.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to motivate a team, resolve conflicts, and work effectively as both an independent leader and a collaborative team player.
  • Communication: Clear, professional verbal communication skills for coordinating with crew members, project managers, and inspectors.
  • Safety Mindset: A strong, positive attitude toward workplace health and safety.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Wage: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour (based on experience).
  • Health Benefits: Comprehensive, company-funded health plan.
  • Stability: Opportunity to build a career with a stable, growing, and respected local company.
