Job Summary
The Pedagogical Support Staff works closely with Early Childhood Educators to support children’s learning, development, and well-being. This role assists in implementing daily programming, maintaining a safe and engaging environment, and supporting children’s individual needs in accordance with PEI Early Learning Frameworks and centre policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support educators in planning and implementing age-appropriate, play-based learning activities
- Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting, rest time, and transitions
- Provide positive guidance and support children’s social, emotional, and physical development
- Observe and report children’s progress and needs to educators and supervisors
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and outdoor play areas
- Support inclusion and adapt activities for children with diverse needs
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with young children (early learning or daycare setting preferred)
- Relevant education or training in Early Childhood Education or a related field is an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of child development and play-based learning
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Working Conditions
- Active role requiring standing, lifting, and engaging in play
- Indoor and outdoor work in all seasons
- Must be able to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30-5:30.
Compensation
- Based on the Early Childhood Educator Wage Grid. If not a certified educator, the pay is minimum wage.
We do not support LMIA or AIP, but we do help with PNP applications.
