Job Description:

We are hiring an experienced Controller to own the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting across the group. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands construction and real estate, and can bring discipline to job costing, billing, holdbacks, and cash flow.

•  Produce timely, accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
•  Manage job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting across all active jobs.
• Oversee progress billings, holdback tracking, and holdback receivable reconciliations.
• Manage cash flow and working capital, including forecasting and banking relationships.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Handle multi-entity accounting and consolidation across the group.
• Manage compliance and remittances: HST, WCB, government filings, and year-end coordination with external accountants.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, processes, and reporting.
• Support budgeting, financial analysis, and decision-making for ownership.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong understanding of construction or contracting accounting.
• Solid grasp of job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion, progress billings, and holdbacks.
• Proven ability to manage a full accounting cycle through to financial statements.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with multiple entities.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
• CPA designation.
• Experience with Xero.
