Job Title: Program Leader

Start Date: April 17th, 2024

Location: Charlottetown, PE

Length of Contract: 9 weeks with possibility of extension

Wage: CA$18.00-CA$18.50 per hour

Program Information:

The Afterschool Program is for participants aged 5-12. The program operates Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Full day programs will take place over the summer months of June, July & August. The afterschool program offers a healthy snack and structured program sessions to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of our community.

Job Overview:

Program Leaders will be required to work at least 21 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for school-aged children through implementing daily activities and communicating with participants, co-workers and supervisors. The candidate will work to enhance participants’ experience by providing new and engaging experiences during our Afterschool & Summer camp programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Be onsite Monday to Friday during scheduled program hours
  • Facilitate & guide activities throughout the day
  • Manage complex behaviours of participants
  • Assist with daily tasks: snack preparation & cleanup, leading activities
  • Effectively communicate with other staff, supervisors & families
  • Monitor children throughout the day and always ensure safety
  • Adhere to a daily schedule of activities provided.
  • Keep detailed logs of daily interactions with members, incidents & accidents
  • Empower the participants to successfully learn and develop appropriate life skills for their abilities
  • Assist in the daily upkeep of the center, equipment and supplies
  • Actively participate in all programs and activities

  • Emergency First Aid & CPR
