Specialists in wood roof trusses, floor joist, prefab wall panels, and engineered products for residential, commercial, and agriculture construction projects, Island Structural Systems Inc. is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Wall Panel Designer.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design prefab wall panels and spec engineered wood products using specialized software for residential, commercial, and agriculture projects based on customer plans and needs
- Prepare the various documents to be given to the client (estimates, technical drawings, layouts)
- Work in collaboration with other professionals in the team
- Accepts other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience in design software or a diploma / certificate in Architectural, Civil, or Construction Technology or related field
- Strong skills in computer aided drafting such as AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is required
- Familiarity with the National Building Code and Engineered Wood Products
- Strong general computer skills required and proficient in Microsoft programs
- Ability to work steadily in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Safety mindset, follows procedures and demonstrates safe work behaviors
- Organized and pays high attention to detail
- Positive attitude and communication with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
- Punctual, reliable, determined, and willing to learn
- Experience working on a construction job site and / or knowledge of the construction process of a home / building is considered an asset
