Bedeque Area Historical Society Inc., Bedeque Historical Museum is looking for a Museum Interpreter.
Job Duties include:
- Assist with Museum Opening.
- Assist with greeting visitors and giving personalized guided tours of the Bedeque Area Museum and the Lower Bedeque Schoolhouse.
- Collecting admission fees and maintaining daily records on visitor numbers and the money collected.
- Monitoring e-mails and answering phone calls, and responding to them as necessary.
- Assisting with the creation of social media content and website updating.
- Assisting with special events.
- Keeping the museum in a clean and presentable state.
- Using pastperfect software to access and update the catalogue of the museum’s collections, with guidance cataloguing recently donated items.
- Creating either a poster panel or a screen photo display revelant to the museum’s remit.
- Any other activites as required.
- Must be a high school student or university level and continuing in full-time education in Sept.
- Should have an interest and background in history or related topics such as geography and social studies. Courses in Canadian history of Prince Edward Isalnd at school or university level are an advantage, as are also an interest in geneology or local history.
- An ability and background in the use of revelant computer programs especially word processing, and in design programs such as Publisher or Canva an advantage.
- Should have good reading and writing skills and good aesthetic judgement in terms of what constitutes a visual attractive poster or museum display.
- Position will start July 1st to September 6th
