We are seeking a friendly and professional Host/Hostess to join our hospitality team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, providing exceptional guest services and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The host is the face of the taproom and the first person guests interact with. In a taproom setting, this role is all about creating a welcoming atmosphere while keeping things organized during busy service. The host helps manage the flow of guests, supports the serving team, and ensures everyone feels comfortable whether theyโre stopping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a strong understanding of restaurant operations. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred, but we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn. The Host/Hostess will play a vital role in creating memorable experiences for our guests and supporting smooth restaurant operations.
Responsibilities
- The host greets guests in a friendly, upbeat manner and helps them find seating, whether thatโs at a table, booth, or the bar.
- They manage waitlists during peak hours, give realistic wait times, and keep guests informed.
Answering phones, taking reservations (if applicable), and handling takeout or delivery pickups may also be part of the role. - In a taproom setting, the host often jumps in to help wherever neededโclearing and resetting tables, wiping menus, refilling water, or assisting servers during busy times.
- They work closely with the servers and kitchen staff to keep the flow of guests steady without overwhelming the team.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station and waiting area
- Assist with guest needs throughout their dining experience
- Operate POS systems such as Micros POS for reservations or seating management when required
- Provide information about menu items, specials, and restaurant policies
- Uphold high standards of customer service, hospitality, and professionalism at all times
Requirements
- Strong people skills and a natural, outgoing personality are essential
- The ideal host is organized, quick-thinking, and comfortable in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment
- Being a team player is especially important in the taproom, where everyone pitches in. A sense of urgency and awareness helps keep service running smoothly.
- Previous experience in guest services, serving, or hospitality preferred; restaurant experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills and excellent phone etiquette
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of POS systems such as Micros POS is advantageous
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
Working Conditions
This role involves standing for long periods, working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and handling busy, high-energy shifts. The environment can be loud and fast-moving, especially during peak hours or events.
