We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Shipping Supervisor to join our team. The role is responsible for leading daily shipping operations, supervising unionized employees, and ensuring loads are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Annual Salary – Competitive salary starting from $65,000, commensurate with experience and qualification.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage unionized employees to meet departmental and company objectives.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and performance management in alignment with company policies and the collective agreement.
- Work closely with Production, Customer Service, Deployment, and Demand Planning to ensure shipping priorities are aligned with operational needs.
- Meet daily with transportation providers (Midland Transport and Midland Brokerage) to address equipment availability and ensure completion of the daily load schedule.
- Approve employee time sheets, vacation requests, and leaves of absence while ensuring payroll accuracy.
- Investigate and follow up on load discrepancies, documentation errors, and damages, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Coordinate internally and externally to ensure product availability and proper staging for shipment.
- Complete and distribute ahead/behind reports by 7:30 a.m. daily.
- Manage freezer holds and coordinate with QA to ensure timely review and release of product.
- Review inbound trailers to minimize detention charges and optimize dock utilization.
- Monitor key performance indicators including on-time shipping, labour efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.
- Support workforce planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma required.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations.
- Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation processes, load scheduling, and shipping documentation.
- Experience working with transportation carriers and brokers.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/WMS systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
