Job Overview
As the face of our waterfront/trailhead operations, you’ll be responsible for getting people outside safely and efficiently. Your day will shift between technical gear maintenance, customer education, and leading immersive sea kayak tours. Whether you’re fitting a life jacket or explaining tide timings, your goal is to provide a seamless outdoor experience.
1. Guest Services & Logistics
- Manage bookings for kayaks, canoes, SUPs, and bikes via our reservation system.
- Provide thorough safety briefings and “mini-lessons” for rental customers.
- Assist guests with equipment sizing (PFDs, paddles, bike helmets).
2. Field Operations & Guiding
- Lead Sea Kayak Tours: Navigate groups through local waters, providing insights on local ecology, history, and safety.
- Perform heavy lifting: Launching/retrieving heavy kayaks and canoes and moving bike fleets.
- Monitor weather and water conditions to make “go/no-go” safety calls.
3. Fleet Maintenance
- Conduct daily safety checks.
- Perform basic repairs and gear cleaning.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop and dock area.
Candidate Requirements:
- Certifications. Standard First Aid & CPR < Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or WFR. PC LVL 1 Sea-kayaking (required for kayak guiding. We can train the right candidate).
- Experience. Although experience is not required, it would be an asset if you have experience guiding in a marine environment.
- Physical. Lift 50+ lbs and able to have a high level of activity for 4+ hours.
