Salary Range:      Level 1 ($21.49 – $24.94 per hour)

Work Hours:        32 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY

The  Infrastructure Maintenance Worker plays an important role in supporting the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of the Town’s infrastructure and public assets. This position assists with the upkeep of buildings, properties, equipment, recreational facilities, and occasional utility-related operations. Working as part of a collaborative team, the Infrastructure Maintenance Worker helps ensure that municipal infrastructure and facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained for residents and visitors year-round.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with routine and preventative maintenance, including inspection and repair of Town, utility, and recreational buildings, equipment, and properties in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintain, repair, and operate vehicles, machines, tools, and equipment as directed.
  • Respond to emergency repair and maintenance calls, as required.
  • Support snow removal, de-icing, grass cutting, landscaping, and general maintenance operations.
  • Assist in preparing buildings and grounds for special events and restoring facilities following events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Facilities Foreperson.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform carpentry and minor electrical and plumbing repairs through training or experience.
  • Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess the condition of infrastructure, buildings, and equipment and determine appropriate actions.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with coworkers, contractors, and members of the public.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to buildings, parks, playgrounds, and equipment.
  • Maintains organized and safe work areas, including compliance with safety regulations and confined space requirements.
  • Reliable, dependable, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent and must be bondable.
  • Valid Class III Prince Edward Island Driver’s License with an excellent driving record would be considered an asset.
