Job Description:

Position Summary

The Ice Cream Bar Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a busy, casual ice cream bar, ensuring fast, friendly service, consistent product quality, and a positive guest experience. This role requires strong hands-on leadership, the ability to manage high volumes during peak tourism periods, and effective supervision of a largely casual and student workforce.

REPORTS TO:

Director, Folk Food Group

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ice cream bar operations including opening, closing, and peak-hour service
  • Ensure consistent product quality, portion control, and presentation
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-organized service area
  • Manage guest interactions and resolve concerns quickly and professionally
  • Monitor line flow and service speed during high-volume periods
  • Assist with Hiring
  • Train and supervise ice cream bar staff
  • Schedule staff based on weather, volume, and tourism demand
  • Provide on-the-floor coaching and feedback
  • Ensure company policies and service standards are being met
  • Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues in a timely and respectful manner
  • Inventory, Cash & Product Management
  • Manage daily inventory including ice cream stock, cones, toppings, and supplies
  • Monitor product rotation and freezer organization
  • Minimize waste and product loss
  • Ensure proper cash handling, POS procedures, and daily reconciliations
  • Complete daily checklists and basic reporting as required
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • PEI food safety and sanitation standards
  • Public Health requirements
  • Workplace health and safety practices
  • Maintain cleanliness of freezers, prep areas, and service counters
  • Ensure staff always follow hygiene and food-handling procedures

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in food service or quick-service management preferred
  • Experience supervising youth, students, or casual staff is an asset
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Comfortable working flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain)
