Job Description:

FIN FOLK FOOD – MANAGER

PURPOSE:

FiN FOLK FOOD is a fun, easy going restaurant, serving casual seafood classics using local products. As Manager, it is your responsibility to Contribute to the overall success of the restaurant by overseeing daily operations, collaborating with all staff to ensure a smooth flow of service, ensuring that the standards set by Ownership and Restaurant Operations Leadership are being met.

REPORTS TO:

Director, Folk Food Group

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations including opening, closing, and service flow
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service
  • Handle guest feedback and resolve concerns professionally and promptly
  • Monitor service pace and staffing levels during peak periods
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, liquor service, and health regulation
  • Assist with recruitment of staff
  • Lead/supervise the training and development of staff
  • Create and manage staff schedules based on weather, reservations, and business levels
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented workplace
  • Enforce company policies and PEI employment standards fairly and consistently
  • Monitor labour costs, food costs, and daily sales
  • Control inventory levels and minimize waste
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, and stock rotation, ensuring it is done in a timely and organized manner that is in line with restaurant standards
  • Support cash handling procedures and daily reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • PEI Employment Standards
  • Food safety and sanitation requirements
  • Responsible beverage service regulations
  • Workplace health and safety standards
  • Complete incident reports and address safety concerns promptly
  • Prepare for high-volume periods related to tourism and weather
  • Coordinate with restaurant leadership and ownership on menus and promotions
  • Support special events, private bookings, and peak season planning

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2–5 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience
  • Experience in casual dining, seasonal, or tourism-based environments preferred
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid Food Safety and Responsible Beverage Service certification (or willingness to obtain)
