The Public Schools Branch (PSB), represents all 56 of Prince Edward Island’s English-language public schools, serving more than 20,000 students from kindergarten through grade 12. This is work in the cleaning and care of the Public Schools Branch properties. Work involves maintaining assigned premises in a clean and orderly condition by following established methods.

- Cleaning furniture, equipment, and fixtures,
- Sweeping, mopping and scrubbing floors;
- Stripping, waxing and polishing floors and furniture;
- Vacuuming and cleaning carpets;
- Cleaning lavatories and replacing lavatory supplies;
- Cleaning white/blackboards, windows and walls;
- General grounds maintenance, mowing lawns, raking leaves, keeping grounds neat and tidy;
- Maintaining a safe school property and environment by shovelling snow, removing ice from school property, moving furniture, equipment, supplies and materials and generally assure the security of school premises;
- Tasks that are assigned by a supervisor and are checked for adherence to instructions and quality standards;
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.What you will bring:
- Grade 12 high school diploma or GED;
- Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered;
- WHMIS training (provided);
- Must be able to work unsupervised in an assigned area and be capable of making autonomous decisions to complete the required tasks;
- Good physical health with the ability to lift 60-70 lbs, climb to a height of approximately 25 feet and work overhead and in a kneeling position;
- Clear communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to understand and consistently maintain established standard cleaning procedures;
- Demonstrate ability to read instructions and write clearly;
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Good work record;
- Experience cleaning in an institutional environment would be an asset;
- CPR/First Aid Training would be an asset;
- Experience dealing with children/youth would be an asset;
- Applicants must submit a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and have no past or present criminal record which would be detrimental in working in an environment with children, youth and other adults.**CSA safety approved clothing and equipment is required for all custodian/cleaners/trades workers (permanent, relief or casual).
