Position Details
Position Title: IT Educational Facilitator
Start Date: Immediately
Employment Type: Full-time Permanent
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, late afternoons/evenings regularly, and most Saturdays, occasional overtime required.
Compensation: $45,000-$55,000/year
Work Location: Head office is in Charlottetown but we travel across the Island to deliver programs.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

STEAM PEI is seeking an IT Educational Facilitator to join our team in developing and delivering engaging in-school experiences, camps, workshops, classes, events, and parties across Prince Edward Island in English.

The primary focus of this role is the development and facilitation of IT specific programs; however, you will also collaborate on broader STEAM program development and delivery. Join the STEAM team and feel like a rock star walking into a classroom, arms full of laptops and robots, ready to inspire the next generation of innovators.

There are regularly late afternoons/evenings required, and Saturdays, depending on the season. We believe in doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done, so there is plenty of flexibility to maintain the work/life balance you are looking for. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fully fluent in English;
  • An undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Development experience with Python and Java;
  • Experience using AI, specifically traditional and generative models;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English;
  • Willingness to jump in to deliver or assist with last minute needs, with the ability to adapt and quickly adjust to changes;
  • Reliable vehicle and a class 5 driver’s license because travel across the Island is part of our regular work;
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 50lbs; and,
  • A clean criminal record check.

OTHER ASSETS:

  • Working experience in IT.
  • Experience with 3D modelling software.
  • Knowledge of CyberSecurity.
  • Interest in facilitating group learning sessions, workshops, or training with youth.
  • Experience facilitating group learning sessions, workshops, or training with youth.
  • Experience with Makey Makey, micro:bits, Scratch.
  • Bilingual French & English.
