Role Overview
The ECE Support and School Age Supervisor plays a key role in delivering high-quality programming to children and families engaged with CHANCES Inc. This is a dynamic split-shift position, with mornings spent supporting early learning programming in the Early Years Centre and afternoons in a supervisory role within our School Age (Smart Play) Program.
As part of both the Early Childhood and School Age Teams, the ECE Support and School Age Supervisor builds strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, and contributes to the overall success of CHANCES by supporting daily operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring a safe, enriching environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support
- Assist with the delivery of daily programming in both Smart Play and Smart Start settings.
- Step in as an additional team member to meet child-to-staff ratio requirements as needed.
- Prepare, set up, and clean up daily activities, ensuring materials are properly organized and maintained.
Child Safety & Supervision
- Monitor children to ensure their health, safety, and overall well-being during program hours.
- Follow and implement established safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Address behavioral concerns in alignment with CHANCES’ policies and practices.
Coaching, Mentoring & Training
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to Smart Play and Smart Start staff to support quality program delivery.
- Facilitate training on best practices, safety procedures, and activity planning and implementation.
- Offer constructive feedback that supports professional growth and upholds high program standards.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with the Program Coordinator regarding incidents, accidents, and any other concerns.
- Engage with parents and caregivers as needed to address questions or share important information.
Adaptability
- Transition between Smart Play and Smart Start locations, adjusting to the unique needs of different age groups and environments.
- Take on various roles as required to support program continuity and cover staffing needs.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately maintain attendance records and complete required daily documentation.
Record and report significant observations, behaviors, or incidents involving children.
Qualifications
- School Age Certification.
- Strong computer skills with a willingness to learn new systems.
- Positive, flexible, and self-motivated approach to work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
