Van Driver

General Duties:

To support staff with activities while they continuously strive to increase community inclusion and participation by adding to the compliment through driving.

Attend staff meeting and functions when requested

Tasks:

• Time Management & Flexibility:  To arrange and post schedule to accommodate needs of staff and clients.  Being able to accommodate changes quickly and easily.
• Safety: To ensure safe arrival and departures to expected locations offering personal assists (physical and non-physical) when required.  Able to adjust in inclement weather.
• Support:  To ensure client transportation needs are met for employment, community placement, wellness programming, etc. and treated with respect and dignity.  Support to social enterprises and programs with pick up of supplies and deliveries.
• Weekly Van Cleaning Duties: In the form of washing, vacuum, windows, other interior and exterior cleaning.
• To Ensure vans are in top working order and maintained including gas and all fluids, oil checks, tires, lights, seasonal requirements, etc., Documenting tasks completed and reporting issues to Supervisor.

• Road Safety Laws — To ensure full knowledge and recognition of laws and defensive driving practices
• Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems in a safe and defensive manner.
• Active Listening — Giving attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand full request or direction.
• Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Abilities:

• Depth Perception — The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
• Far Vision — The ability to see details at a distance.
• Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
• Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Control Precision — The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience; or knowledge, skills, and mental ability equivalent to 2 years of high school education
• Provide a clean driver’s abstract and current valid driver’s license
• Obtain First Aid, WHMIS, Mandt training; or other training as requested
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions
• Ability to work well alone and with a partner or team
• Reliable and punctual with dedicated professionalism to job and duties
• Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines; excellent time management skills
• Pays attention to detail when driving
• Organized and able to follow a schedule
