3. POSTING OPEN TO RELIEF / CASUAL EMPLOYEES OF THE LOCAL.
4. THE PUBLIC – MAY APPLY AT SAME TIME BUT WILL ONLY BE CONSIDERED AFTER UNIONIZED EMPLOYEES.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
- General carpentry and cabinetry, book shelves, desks, etc.;
- Repair and install flooring – (vinyl and quarry tile);
- Repair commercial/residential door locking systems: panic hardware, door closers, and door installation;
- Dry wall installation, seam filling, minor painting;
- Concrete repair and new installation (walkways, etc.);
- Repair leaks and caulking to commercial windows, vinyl windows, etc. and associated hardware;
- Install and repair various types of washroom stalls and components;
- Repair and install fencing including chain link systems;
- Adjustments to workspaces;
- Maintenance of grounds and playgrounds as well as associated equipment;
- Communicating with principals, teaching staff and custodial staff as required;
- Other associated duties related to the maintenance and operation of schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent;
- Must have a Provincial Trade Qualification (Red Seal) in Carpentry with considerable experience in a commercial/institutional environment in Carpentry;
- Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract upon request;
- Must be in good physical health with the ability to lift 30-75 lbs, climb to a height of approximately 25 feet, work overhead and in a kneeling position and be able to work in confined spaces;
- Demonstrated ability to read/write clearly and interpret instructions and specifications;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate using electronic devices;
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player as well as work unsupervised and make decisions independently;
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, leadership, strong communication and problem solving skills with the ability to multitask and establish priorities;
- A Criminal Abstract is required, with no past or present criminal record which would be detrimental in working in an environment with children, youth and other adults;
- Must have a good previous work and attendance record;
The successful candidate must be agreeable to be on call and/or perform overtime when needed and be able to respond in a timely manner.
Other:
Experience with minor plumbing and electrical would be considered an asset.
