Job Description:

As an Inservice and Contract Training Coordinator, you will assist in fostering the growth and development of inservice and contract training opportunities for the Atlantic Police Academy.  Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide administrative support to activities related to inservice and contract training.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with industry, industry associations, community organizations, Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments, and the public.
  • Actively seek out new training opportunities for the Atlantic Police Academy by staying aware of new trends in workforce development.
  • Promote a variety of inservice and contract training courses and seminars which includes providing ongoing presentations for various groups on the benefits of contract training.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and finalize training contracts with external customers including establishing course, dates, locations, instructors, and budgets.
  • Provide coordination with offsite training and oversee the placement of instructional staff and students at these sites.
  • Register and exit students, input final grades, and receipt payments using the College’s student information system (Datatel).
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan for various trainings and programs.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business administration, project management or other related discipline with a minimum of two-years recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in public safety and training environments are considered assets.
  • Superior communications skills verbally, electronically and in writing with the ability to adapt style to a variety of purposes and audiences.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with figures and detailed records.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Some knowledge of contract development government, police and public safety policies and operations is preferred.
  • French language proficiency as an asset.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Some evening and/or weekend work and off island travel may be required.
