Research Associate, Data Analytics
Reporting to the Director of Applied Research, the successful applicant will support the college’s research and development activities in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML). The successful applicant will also be responsible to:
- Lead the development and execution of research projects focused on data analytics, business intelligence and AI/ML.
- Support the strategic direction of the Applied Research Department.
- Conduct in depth literature reviews.
- Respond to industry requests for services and assist in identifying new opportunities for growth.
- Develop and write technical reports, presentations, funding applications.
- Manage multiple research projects concurrently, including timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Work with cross disciplinary teams.
- Provide support and mentorship to students involved in research projects.
- Ensure project funding is utilized effectively to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Build and maintain relationships with many industry partners, community groups and not-for-profit partners.
- Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in AI/ML to enhance research capabilities.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Masters’s degree in a related field with a minimum of five years of data analytics, business intelligence or AI experience is required.
- Strong functional ability in MS Excel, including power tools, statistical add-on packages and related extensions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, SQL, or C++/C-Sharp.
- Proficiency in ML algorithms, statistical analysis and/or data visualization tools.
- Experience with tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and problem-solving, conflict and stress management skills.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and electronic).
- Understanding of industry trends and opportunities in data analytics.
- Experience supervising students is considered an asset.
