Maintenance HVAC Technician, Continuing position starting ASAP
- Perform necessary maintenance on all heating, ventilation, air conditioning and specialized equipment across all Holland College locations. This includes but is not limited to: heating and cooling rooftop or air handling units, heat pumps, air exchangers, oil and gas burners, electric or pneumatic control systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, humidity, laboratory equipment, distribution and delivery components
- Conduct necessary equipment tests and troubleshoot to identify and correct any causes of malfunction.
- Responsible for the inspection, preventative maintenance, cleaning, adjustment, repair and replacement of all HVAC equipment.
- Work closely with the Facility Management Centre Administrators to; establish and report on key performance indicators, keep informed of any necessary work on mechanical equipment, and to develop a routine schedule for proper upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist the Facilities Management Team in preparing annual budgets for maintenance or replacement of equipment.
- Oversee the ordering of necessary parts and supplies for repairs and maintenance.
- Participate in the design and execution of preventative maintenance systems.
- Perform and record daily log readings and complete daily assignments using our Maintenance Management Systems.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs at the College as required.
- Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal regulations and College policies & procedures.
- Have working knowledge of OH&S requirements and maintain safety records.
- Respond to calls for duty at irregular hours to address safety hazards or emergencies.
- Be an active participant in the College’s energy conservation initiatives.
- Organize and execute special projects when requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- College diploma or a trade credential in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program is required, a specialization as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic is preferred. Red seal endorsement is preferred.
- Minimum three years related experience in construction and/or maintenance in a commercial or institutional environment.
- Possess the ability to perform all physical duties of the job as required.
- Possess strong communication, computer literacy and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision as well as the ability to work in a team setting.
- Willing to respond to calls after hours, as required.
- Must possess a class 5 driver’s license.
- Certification in WHMIS, first aid, confined spaces & fall arrest training would be considered assets.
