Job Description:

Term position: July 17, 2023 to March 31, 2024 (with possibility of extension)

Holland College is seeking to hire an experienced Project Manager to support the development and implementation of new post-secondary programming through a unique Joint Initiative involving the College and the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). The Project Manager will report to and work under the direction of the Joint Working Group that includes representatives of Holland College and UPEI.  The successful candidate will:

  • Support project priorities and delivery in a timely manner and within the budget.
  • Manage the project scope and develop and oversee the implementation of detailed project work plans and milestones. Consider areas of change control, resolution of any issues and risk management.
  • Manage communications and coordinate meetings and follow-up activities.
  • Develop and deliver periodic project status reports, presentations, and related project documentation, including updates on the project management plan.
  • Facilitate discussions between and within both institutions, provincial government, industry, and other stakeholders to support project objectives. 
  • Support the Joint Working Group in defining physical space and equipment requirements for a new facility that will support the objectives of the new post-secondary programs.
  • Identify resource requirements and lead and/or support the development of funding proposals for submission to the government and other sources, as applicable.
  • Support the Joint Working Group with other planning components in terms of governance and operations models, including working with external expertise.
  • Work with the provincial government, as well as architects, construction managers, equipment, and suppliers to communicate confirmed requirements for the new facility during the design, construction, and final phases of the facility development. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated 5 years of experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program development at a post-secondary institution including curriculum, facility, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability, clean technologies, climate technologies and net zero.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to facilitate discussions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, powerpoint).
  • Professional certification in project management would be considered an asset.
