If you are a post-secondary student returning to full-time studies in September 2023 and want to dive into this field and get a hands-on authentic ‘taste’ of the many opportunities and rewards this important field has on offer, this is the perfect summer job for you!
About Us:
Family Place is a non-profit, charitable organization that exists to provide a comprehensive range of free pre and postnatal, family support, parent education, and child development programs and services to families with children from conception to 12 years living in East Prince County and PEI. Particular focus is aimed at reducing barriers to accessing services and reaching families who are experiencing additional life challenges – and aren’t we all?
The Job:
You will be given the opportunity to support families to reach their full potential and to succeed and thrive. You will support families to help themselves by providing opportunities for them to learn, develop social networks, and access concrete support and appropriate upstream (preventative) family-centered programs and services.
Through the adoption of a strength-based empowerment model, you will partner with families and communities to meet expressed needs. With training, support and mentorship, you will focus on the promotion of wellness and the use of upstream programs. You will do this by using an ecological lens that recognizes the interdependent nature of individuals, families, and communities and the impacts of the social determinants of health. Finally, you will work to strengthen resiliency to help improve the physical, mental, social, and intellectual health and well-being of individuals (infants, children, and adults), families, and communities. Excited yet?
The Nuts & Bolts:
