Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager of Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology, Computer Studies and Metal Trades, the successful applicant will create a positive teaching and learning environment and provide effective delivery of the Computer Networking Technology (CNET) program (course descriptions can be found on the Holland College website). The ideal candidate will:

  • Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  • Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Liaise with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy.
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Counsel learners regarding occupational goals.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary education in Information Technology (diploma or degree) combined with three to five years related industry experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong design and implementation skills in enterprise infrastructure including cloud and cloud service, enterprise data storage and implementations including SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.
  • In-depth understanding of routing and switching in WAN/LAN design, implementation, and network management in wired and wireless networks.
  • In-depth understanding of IT Governance, IT policies and best practice for data management and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in maintaining a security-centric IT environment.
  • Experience diagnosing issues with computer hardware and software.
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining Operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows and Linux, both server and desktop.
  • Self-directed Learner with a keen interest in IT developments.
  • Demonstrated commitment in Learner inclusivity, enhancement, and engagement.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming using Python, C# or Java.
  • Certification in Adult Education and/or prior teaching experience with adult learners in an educational setting will be considered assets.
  • Perform other learning manager related duties as required.
