DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, and dynamic individual to provide leadership and front-line management for the post-secondary programs related to the portfolio, and oversight of the business operations, of the Culinary Institute of Canada (CIC) in Charlottetown. Reporting to the Executive Director of Programs, Curriculum, and Instructional Development, the Program Manager will:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality programming by providing academic and administrative leadership, planning, development, and supervision of the department’s activities.
  • Promote an entrepreneurial spirit through the building of partnerships and contract/continuing education; ensure programs/courses are responsive, relevant, accessible, and meet the needs of students, clients, industry, and the community.
  • Provide leadership to staff and students on day-to-day academic and operational matters (including human resources, finance), and other resources pertaining to both programs and the business operations of the CIC.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of short and long-term goals and objectives established through operational and strategic plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson in Cooking as well as a post -secondary credential in a related field; a graduate degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role managing diverse business operations, preferably with a focus on food service, is required.
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant occupational experience in fields related to the College’s programming.
  • Experience in/or exposure to a post-secondary educational environment will be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven entrepreneurial and transformative leadership skills and can both anticipate and identify opportunities for growth in program offerings and services.
  • Substantial experience in strategic planning, budget management, as well as project and change management, and sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, interpret and apply College, government, agency, and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills and sound judgement to make effective, discretionary decisions as well as manage complex issues and relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in business and human resources management principles, theories, and practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills, including written/oral communications.
  • Proven flexibility and ability to respond and act on changing priorities.
  • Current and/or prior teaching experience is considered an asset.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required; willingness to travel.
