Hours of Work: 7:45am-4:15pm, Monday to Friday – Full time contract until March 31st, 2023, with possible extension.
Job Summary: Our Early Childhood Centre is seeking a 1:1 Support Worker to join our team. The Support Worker will enable the child with diverse needs to participate to their full potential in environments that are carefully planned to serve individual needs, and to facilitate the child’s progress in the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas of development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Offer a play-based, emergent curriculum
- Create, adapt, and maintain an environment that protects the health and safety of children and adults
- Observe, record, and document the child’s work
- Foster social interactions and child development
- Adapt equipment, materials, and supplies to meet the needs of the child with diverse needs
- Build relationships with the child, parents, c0-workers, and various specialists
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have certification in Emergency First Aid/CPR
- Must have a clear Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and relationship building skills
- IBI training would be considered an asset, but not required
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Human Services would be considered an asset, but not required
- Prior experience in working with children with identified needs would be considered an asset, but not required
