Bus Driver

Job Description:

The Mount Academy will begin occupying the new Eliyahu Wellness Centre Canada Games Place in North Rustico this January. The successful applicant will be require to assist in transporting students to and from school, or during field trips and must have a class 2 drivers license. They must ensure all students get on and off the bus safely and arrive safely at their destination. Additionally, they are required to maintain a safe environment throughout the journey. This includes making sure the students are not causing harm to one another and are abiding by all safety rules put in place. The Bus Driver also has the responsibility of intervening in difficult situations, such as bullying incidents, while the children are in their care. Outside of driving hours the applicant will be responsible for the general bus maintenance, which includes:

– Regularly inspecting the bus for the upkeep and maintenance of seats, heating, and other equipment
– Helping load and unload equipment, schoolbags, suitcases, or other cargo belonging to each passengers
– Regular cleaning of the vehicle interior.
– Reporting any issues that may be cause for repair, to the fleet manager.
– Maintaining driver logs

The applicant will be paid hourly and expected between the hours of 6am – 9am and again from 2:30pm – 5:30pm each day during the week for a total of 30hrs/week. There will be lots of opportunity to pick up additional hours outside the typical work hours and on weekends.
