Job Description:
The Permanent Support will work a set number of hours (40 per week) in various Early Learning Programs and School Age Programs, as required, supporting Early Childhood Educators or Youth Educators to provide quality programs for children, parents/caregivers who are participants of CHANCES. The Permanent Support Staff plays a very significant role in the day to day functioning of CHANCES. They develop positive relationships with the children and their families and participate as members of the Early Learning Teams as well as the broader staffing unit of CHANCES.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Child Development Programs:
· Building a relationship of trust; mutual respect and caring for children and parents/caregivers who attend CHANCES programs;
· Guiding and assisting children in the techniques of proper bathroom, eating, and dressing habits;
· Using redirection and guidance to assist children in understanding and verbally expressing their emotions as an alternative to physical aggression;
· Providing the children with opportunities for social interactions within the context of play-based learning;
2. Supporting Parents:
· Respecting parents/caregivers values and attitudes as well as understanding their different approaches to parenting;
· Communicating openly and effectively with parents/caregivers;
3. Staff Support:
·Contributing to a supportive team environment by utilizing the appropriate lines of communication to solve issues and challenges;
· Participating in regular team meetings for the Early Learning Team;
· Contributing to a supportive team environment by fully engaging in all aspects of the position as Early Learning Educator Support, including all components of program planning, delivery, and clean up.
