Part time Cook Position
Job Summary:
The cook is responsible for preparing and serving balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of the 12 children in our Centre. The candidate chosen for this position will oversee all kitchen operations and maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen. The cook will ensure safe food preparation, storage, and disposal in accordance with accepted food handling practices, food safety regulations, and childcare food guidelines.
The cook supports Centre philosophy, programs, and policies to maintain a standard of care that contributes to the Centre’s reputation for excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary job duties and responsibilities for the Cook include but are not limited to:
– Prepare two healthy snacks and a healthy lunch daily, that is in accordance with the Canada’s Food Guide.
– Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation.
– Maintain daily reports.
– Cover staff breaks when required.
Required Skills
Job Requirements:
– 18 years of age
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Certification in First Aid/CPR AND Certification in Food Safety/Food Handler
– Clear Criminal Record Check
– Certification in Food Safety/Food Handler
Drivers license is considered an asset with willingness to get class 4
Some weekend / evenings maybe required
Hours:
Monday – Friday 9 am – 1pm
20 hours per week
Start Date:
ASAP
Contract Position: 7 months -12 months
Wage:
$15.50 an hour
