Job Description:

The Tourism and Culinary Centre is looking for an organized, dependable, and hard-working individual for our TEAM LEAD – Kitchen/Building Support position. Key responsibilities include directing, supervising and performing the night cleaning and maintenance operations of the kitchens.

  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties of kitchen areas including floors, cooking ovens, exhaust hoods, cooking equipment and garbage containers.
  • Ensure kitchen areas are cleaned to meet required standards and ensure staff adhere to WHMIS standards.
  • Observe safety precautions while on duty and report any potential hazards.
  • Utilize safety equipment ensuring manufacturer’s recommendations are met.
  • Supervise kitchen and building staff.
  • Prepare nightly report of activities and forward reports to Supervisor.
  • Report any maintenance requirements and act as contact for all after hour repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist in training and evaluating staff.
  • Contribute to team effort to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as required.

*Continuing part year positions work full time regular weekly hours (40), each academic year.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including moderate to heavy lifting.
  • WHMIS and food safety training would be considered assets.
