Travel Health Nurse

Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Travel Health Nurse for a new travel clinic opening in Charlottetown. This clinic will carry out travel health consultations in order to properly prepare travelers for, and increase their awareness of, any health risks associated with travel.

This position will be responsible for ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is used to give appropriate health advice and vaccine recommendations to meet the needs of the individual’s travel itinerary and perform other general duties to contribute to the smooth running of the clinic.

Responsibilities:

To administer vaccines in a correct and safe manner having fully informed the patient and obtained appropriate consent.

Give travel health advice based on the most up-to-date information available, that is customized to the client’s itinerary.

Explain health risks and the recommended vaccines to the patient, including the efficacy of the vaccines and the possible side effects.

Ensure accurate documentation of the individual’s medical and vaccine history is completed.

Recommend and advise on other medicines, as appropriate.

Maintain knowledge of the travel health industry including health risks and needs for complicated travelers such as children, and pregnant women, and be willing to attend conferences and stay up to date on industry events.

Advise on potential areas for growth, promote the business and suggest additional revenue streams based on industry trends.

Provide excellent client service while responding to telephone and e-mail travel health queries.

Manage the daily clinic appointments, maintain accurate records, and manage vaccine and general clinic inventory.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse with experience in travel medicine preferred.
