The Holland College Early Learning Centre on our Prince of Wales Campus in Charlottetown is seeking an Inclusion Support Assistant to join our team. The Inclusion Support Assistant will enable children with special needs to participate to their full potential in environments that are carefully planned to serve individual needs, and to facilitate the child’s progress in the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas of development.
As part of our team you are responsible to:
- Offer a play-based, emergent curriculum
- Create, adapt and maintain an environment that protects the health and safety of children and adults
- Observe, record, and document children’s work
- Foster social interactions and child development
- Adapt equipment, materials and supplies to meet the needs of children with special needs
- Build relationships with children, parents and co-workers
- Mentor adult students in the Early Childhood Education and Care program at Holland College
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education or Human Services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Prior experience in working with children with identified needs
- Certification in First Aid/CPR are required
- Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and relationship building skills
- IBI training would be considered an asset
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.
