Job Description:

Term position until March 31st, 2023;  working 20-30 hours per week.

Holland College is seeking an In-Class Aide for the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. Two of these positions will be in the classroom with the mother and baby program and one will directly support the Centre for Newcomer Children (our onsite daycare).  The successful candidates will report to the Lead Early Childhood Educator and will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Provide in class support to the teacher as needed.  This may include photocopying, printing, working one on one with students.
  • Assist student mothers with basic parenting requirements and provide support to mothers to encourage educational and social growth.
  • Develop and implement daily activities that support and promote the development of newcomer children.
  • Support Early Childhood Educators in the Centre for Newcomer Children with programming for toddlers in daycare.

Qualifications:

  • A Diploma in a related field is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR are required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and relationship building skills.
  • Please note, if you are the successful candidate, you will be required to provide a criminal background check, vulnerable sector check as well as current proof of immunizations and Tuberculosis status.
  • Ability to speak an additional language would be considered an asset.
