Job Description:

Continuing Part Time Position (4 Days/Wk)

August 15, 2022 – May 5, 2023

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Manager of the Business, Tourism and Sport Department, the Learning Manager will ensure the successful delivery of the Medical Support Services program by delivering a high-quality program and creating an inclusive and safe teaching and learning environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  •  Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Evaluate and assess both academic and practical student progress.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to students.
  • Liaising with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy.
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials in the online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Perform other learning manager related duties as required

*Continuing part time position working 28 hours per week, each academic year.

Qualifications

  • A Medical Secretary Diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution is required.
  • Five years of combined experience in a medical institution and/or private medical practice is required.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, organizational & problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of all aspects of the medical support services function in the field, including medical transcription experience.
  • Knowledge of various learning styles and curriculum development, a certificate in Adult Education, experience as an on-the-job training supervisor, and/or prior teaching experience will be considered assets.
