Job Description:
Reporting to the Program Manager of Computer Studies, the successful applicant will create a positive teaching and learning environment and provide effective delivery of the Computer Information Systems program. The ideal candidate will:
- Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments
- Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing an online blended and classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success
- Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging students in the learning process.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback
- Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM)
- Liaising with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy
- Comply with OH&S regulations
- Counsel learners regarding occupational goals
- Participate in program development and planning activities
- Perform other learning manager related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A Post-secondary education in Information Technology (Degree or Diploma) coupled with three to five years related industry experience.
- Experience in programming using object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Web programming with JavaScript and related frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js, etc) is an asset.
- Experience using Agile project management methodology is an asset.
- Demonstrated strengths in written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.Proven organizational and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enthusiastic willingness to stay current in new programming methods.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (D2L preferred) and understanding of online technologies is an asset.
- Relevant experience in the Healthcare I.T. Industry, e-Health, and Health Level-7 (HL7) standards and protocols is an asset.
- Experience with event-driven/user-interface programming using Windows Forms, WPF, AWT, Swing is an asset.
- Experience using and/or managing enterprise information systems such as ERP, CRM, and content management systems (WordPress) is an asset.
- Experience using version control and issues tracking for software projects is an asset.
- Certification in Adult Education and/or prior teaching experience with adult learners in an educational setting will be considered assets.
