Position: Seafood Safety Specialist (NOC 1122)

Navigate is an innovative and tech-driven company, so big part of your job will be work with content and technologies. Necessary skills are:
- Bachelor degree in Seafood, Aquaculture, Food Science, Agriculture or Biology
- 10+ years international experience working in the seafood and aquaculture industry domestically and internationally
- Proficient in PC and/or Mac OS
- Proficient at new technologies (software, apps, etc.)
- Great communication skills
- Problem solving
- Understanding of the food manufacturing industry
- Proficiency in English, written and verbal
- Knowledge of social auditing standards
As a Seafood Safety Specialist you need to be knowledgeable about Food Safety in general and specifically in Seafood Industry. We are looking for someone who can bring to our team experience in:
- Accreditation requirements of global schemes
- Auditing principals and multiple certification standards in at least four of the following: GSA-BAP, BRC, SQF, IFS, Global GAP, ISO 9000, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001, or ASC
- Working knowledge of benchmarks such as GFSI, GSSI, GSCP, etc.
- Accreditation requirements of global schemes
- Proficiency in the application of Seafood HACCP
- Technical review and technical report writing skills
- Conducting on-site or remote audits of customers
Seafood Safety Specialist duties and responsibilities include:
- Communicate with customers, facilities, and certification bodies regarding seafood compliance issues
- Work closely with the Navigate Team and other to achieve the vision and goals of Navigate Food Safety Solutions.
- Review audit reports and technical standards related to seafood
- Review FDA Importer Verification documentation.
- Oversee supply chain assurance including supplier performance reviews.
- Assist in auditor/customer training events as needed.
- Review seafood safety plans and other policies and procedures.
- Review facility compliance issues.
- Develop and implement seafood inspection procedures for clients.
- Assist customers in FDA/CFIA detentions and corrective action processes.
- Assist in the review of new standards as needed, and in the development and updating of interpretation guidelines to standards as required by seafood clients.
- Maintain systematic record keeping.
- Report on projects to customers and upper management.
- Assist in developing client documentation related to benchmarked standards such as GFSI, GSSI, GSCP, etc.
- Conduct presentations of food services and technical advice/guidance to end clients.
- Any other necessary tasks that maybe required and that have been deemed reasonable for an employee of this title.
A few important details before you run out to apply:
- Navigate office is in Montague and you are expected to work 9-5, Monday-Friday with some flexibility
- The position is required traveling and visiting industrial settings and farms
- Experience with Mac is very important for this position. If you are not familiar you will be required to learn.
