Baker and Cook

Job Description:

The cook/baker position ensures standards are met in Food Service Operations by completing job duties as assigned which include the preparation, cooking, and baking of a wide variety of foods; assist in other preparation duties as directed; maintains a clean and sanitary workplace; and is able to remain calm in a focused and fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have successfully completed the food safety awareness program
• Preferences will be given to individuals who have experience in food services in either long term care or chronicacute health care.
• Preferences will be given to individuals who have experience in cooking, baking and familiarity with professional kitchen equipment
• Must be knowledgeable of the (Provincial) PEI Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift. There is much repetition in the tasks, must be able to organize time so to vary duties limiting repetitive movements.
• Mix various ingredients to create cakes, pie, and other types of dessert
• Track food supplies and place orders as needed
• Reviewing menus, preparing food following standardized recipes and production sheets
