Job Description:

Safe Drivers PEI is a leader in Driver Education and training on PEI. SDPEI instructors are responsible for providing quality instruction of the techniques and skills needed to help students develop driving abilities that meet the required standards of Safe Driving.

We currently have an opening for a part-time driving instructor (In-Classroom) in Charlottetown.

In order to be considered, applicants must:

  1. Have a minimum of 2 years of experience teaching in a classroom environment, or hold a Teachers Certification from a Canadian jurisdiction.
  2. Be at least 21 years of age, have held a class five drivers license in Canada for the last five years, and have a good driving record.
  3. Enjoy working as a member of a team, and with people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
  4. Not have been convicted of any criminal offence in the last five years.
  5. Be willing to successfully complete the Drivers Education Instructor training course provided by Safe Drivers PEI.
  6. Be able to meet the standards and testing required by Safe Drivers PEI and the PEI Department of Highway Safety.
  7. Be willing to attend additional training, as required.
  8. Be physically and mentally competent and meet the standards of professional conduct and good character.
  9. Be able to work afterschool hours (3:30pm – 6:30pm), and occasional Saturdays.

The following will be considered an asset:

  1. PEI Teachers Certification or related degree in Education.
  2. Previous experience as a driving instructor (in-car or in-class).

Additional Information:

  1. Successful applicants will regularly work within local high schools and post-secondary facilities to provide in-classroom training to students. Criminal record & vulnerable sector screening is a mandatory condition of employment.
  2. This position is ideal for an individual already working P/T to F/T in a teaching role, who is looking to add some variety to their instructional skills.

  1. Flexible working hours to suit your schedule (primarily evenings and weekends). Between 5 and 25 hours a week as agreed upon on hiring.
  2. All classroom supplies and computer equipment.
