The Graduate Mentorship Program is an employment program to help unemployed recent post-secondary graduates develop new skills and gain work experience in their field of study through on the job training.
A temporary wage subsidy is provided to an employer to create long term employment opportunities and assist with the cost of hiring and training a new employee. At the end of the wage subsidy, the employee should be fully productive and contributing to the success of the business.
Who is eligible to participate?
If you are unemployed, a recent post-secondary graduate within the last five years and looking for full time employment you are eligible to apply.
- You must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or permanent resident);
- Other criteria may apply.
How do I apply?
You must apply directly with the employer. The employer will interview and select a candidate for the position. If you are selected, the employer will submit an application to SkillsPEI requesting a temporary wage subsidy to hire you. - Completed Graduate Mentorship Program Individual Eligibility form;
- Return to Work Action Plan prepared by your case manager;
- SkillsPEI Consent Form.
How does the program work?
We will reimburse your new employer for a portion of your wages during the on-the-job training period. You will be paid by your employer and you will have the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.
