Job Description:

The Mission of The Montessori School of Charlottetown is to provide a holistic, joyful, and
developmental approach to education.
Curriculum is based on the child development discoveries, methods and teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori now in practice around the world at approximately 30,000 schools. Priorities of developmental learning and our approach include:

• following the constructive rhythm of life pertaining to growth and abilities
• individual learning plans for every student
• mixed age-range classes
• small class sizes
• uninterrupted periods of learning
• autotomy of learning choices
• a true interdisciplinary approach
• teachers as guides

Dr. Maria Montessori’s methodology has been utilized, studied, and celebrated around the world
for more than 110 years. Her approach has been proven to foster productive, globally minded
citizens with exceptional self-direction, collaborative mentality, critical thinking and executive
functioning skills.

Currently seeking an Upper Elementary Teacher.

Qualifications:
• Exceptional approach to education with a genuine demonstrated love of learning
• Post-Secondary Degree in a related discipline
• Current Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, NAMC, TMS), or the ability to complete a
certification program decided upon by the school’s executive director
• Relevant, qualifying, and unique teaching experiences
• Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Montessori pedagogy
• Bilingual / Multilingual skills
• Genuine respect for children’s varying development and behaviors
• Life experiences which demonstrate personal commitment to growth
• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement individual lesson plans, prepare progress
reports, conduct formal parent/family interviews and maintain accurate records
• First Aid and CPR certifications
• Additional diversified undergraduate and/or graduate degrees are considered a strong
asset
• Additional instructional specializations are considered a strong asset

We offer a competitive, holistic compensation package, and embrace professional development.
Salary range: $38,000 to $44,000 depending on experience.
