Job Description:

Special Events/ Membership Coordinator

The Special Events/Membership Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

Position Description:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Executive Director of Tourism Summerside with special event preparation and membership coordination.

If you are unemployed or have previously been on unemployment, you are eligible to apply.

You must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or permanent resident);

You must have a current claim for Employment Insurance benefits; OR

You must have a previous EI claim whose benefit period ended within the previous 60 months;

OR

An unemployed person who paid, in at least 5 of the last 10 years, employee’s premiums that did not entitle the person to a refund (i.e. If the person made less than $2000 in earnings in a year, any EI premiums that they would have paid, would be reimbursed). Other criteria may apply.

Position Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and coordination of various events throughout the year.
Coordinate various tasks involved with membership
Assist the Executive Director in other tasks when needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism
Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
Experience coordinating special events
Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Basic website editing skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse members, and successfully sell Tourism Summerside memberships

High level of individual initiative required, including ability to work with limited supervision and resolve practical problems independently

Excellent organizational skills, enabling you to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
