Part-time to full-time

Overview: Job start date: September 3, 2019
Wage: $13.48 – $17.47 /Hour dependent on qualifications and experience
Hours: 15 – 37.5 Hours / Week

Specific Skills/ Duties:
– Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
– Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
– Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
– Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
– Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
– Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and food preparation duties.
– Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.

Education:
– Ideally, applicants will have completed a 2-year diploma. Applicants with a 1-year certificate and/ or 3 X 30 hours ECE (ECE Level II, ECE Level I) will be considered.
– Note: Funding may be available to cover the tuition and textbook costs associated with courses for ECE Level I, ECE Level II, ECE Level III or higher.
– Licensed by PEI Childcare Facilities Board (if you have the training mentioned above).
– First aid certificate.
– Food handling certificate.

Experience:
Experience an asset but will train.
Preschool teaching experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Skills: Good interpersonal skills are essential.

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check.

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s license. Travel expenses paid by employer.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure.
